FreightWaves hosts Freight Alley local social

The informal Freight Alley local social brought heavy hitters in the logistics industry to the FreightWave’s Chattanooga offices for a local meet and greet last Wednesday, February 7.

The Freight Alley local social turned out to be a great way for the FreightWaves team to get to know the movers and shakers in the logistics industry, and to make important connections and develop networking opportunities — and to have a blast all at the same time.

A massive spread of barbeque and fixin’s was catered by Nooga Q. Red and white wine, and three kegs of beer didn’t hurt the festivities either.

Some 75 leaders of the logistics industry that have operations in and around Chattanooga attended. Among the esteemed company were leading shippers, 3PLs, and carriers, such as Covenant, Coyote, Kenco Logistics, Lync America, V3, Bake Crafters, USXpress, Lee Smith, Reliance Group, Step Out Logistics, Steam Logistics, International Maritime Security, Tranco Global, R.E. Garrison, BWY Transport, Tranzlogix, ELDMarketplace, and ID8 Innovation.

CEO Craig Fuller led a brief award ceremony, featuring FreightWaves Managing Editor, Brian Straight, officially receiving the first inaugural FreightWaves Heisman Award.

The insights and expertise brought FreightWaves’ writers content and ideas for future publications and endeavors.

“As a writer it was invaluable to meet with various leaders in the industry,” said John Paul Hampstead, FreightWaves Staff Writer.

“At FreightWaves we’re forming alliances and promoting technology that is based on transparency and real-time data and communication, and that’s the communal spirit of our organization,” said COO, John Bowes. “It’s fun to see colleagues in the industry and to have fun with good beer and good friends in Freight Alley.”

FreightWaves launched in January of 2017. The founders have expressed a desire for continued collaboration and communication in an industry that hasn’t always been that way. Working together brings better results for everyone.
