Orbcomm acquires Blue Tree Systems

Leading machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) provider Orbcomm has acquired Blue Tree Systems, a provider of compliance solutions in multiple countries, including the U.S.

Terms were not disclosed.

Blue Tree Systems, based in Galway, Ireland, has more than 300 trucking customers and provides electronic logging device products, as well as fleet management, tracking and temperature-controlled management solutions.

Orbcomm said the acquisition of Blue Tree Systems will complement its portfolio of cargo solutions, giving customers the ability to easily add a complete solutions packages. Blue Tree operates in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in addition to North America.

Blue Tree offers the BT500 hardware platform for its systems. The platform, based on Android, features WiFI, Bluetooth and full 3G connectivity in addition to USB ports for connecting in-cab printers, scanners and other devices. Software solutions are tailor-made for customers, based on the fleetmanager.com platform. Interactive graphs, management dashboards and scheduled reports allow the new, scalable platform to be used in unique ways by each user.

Blue Tree’s platform is integrated with leading developers including TMW Systems, TruckMate, McLeod Software, Paragon, TrailerTail and more.
