For millions of football fans, a trip to the Super Bowl is the ultimate bucket list item. For blue collar workers, though, attending the game is often out of reach with ticket prices reaching $5,000 and above on the secondary ticket market. For two lucky truck drivers that will change.

Minneapolis, MN-based technology company ONE20 is giving drivers the chance to win a ticket to this year’s big game, which will take place on Feb. 4, 2018, in Minneapolis. Two truck drivers will be chosen and given the chance to attend the game.

“This is one of the coolest things we’ve been able to do,” says Christian Schenk, CEO. “In our opinion, it’s time to give back” to truckers.

ONE20 is free membership community built for professional truck drivers. It offers membership benefits, discounts and even an ELD. The My ONE20 app is free and available on Android and iOS devices.

Last year’s Super Bowl in Houston required some 100,000 truckloads of equipment to handle everything from ensuring there was plenty of food on hand to all the entertainment that goes into a week of celebrations in the host city before the game.

ONE20 has partnered with On Location Experiences (OLE) and Nomadic Entertainment’s Club NOMADIC at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel as part of the effort. Club NOMADIC is a 64,000-square-foot multi-level nightlife venue that debuted at the Super Bowl in Houston and will be in Minneapolis this year.

ONE20 is posting Super Bowl related loads to its load board for drivers and they have already brought more than 65 truckloads of freight for Club NOMADIC alone.

Schenk says that in addition to the two lucky drivers who are awarded the tickers, ONE20 will be providing several events during the course of the week for drivers to enjoy some of the Super Bowl festivities, including an event at Club NOMADIC before the game.

“We’ll be offering some entertainment [for drivers],” Schenk says. “We thought that we are having these great partners, so why not get the truckers involved.”

The company is working to highlight truck drivers. “The main focus behind the collaborations will be to create an awareness among the public that the Super Bowl wouldn’t be the Super Bowl without truckers,” Schenk says.

As part of the effort to highlight drivers, ON20 is filming a documentary about some of the drivers involved in the behind-the-scenes effort to deliver the Super Bowl. The film should be released in March.

“It’s a trucker’s journey and the [making] of the Super Bowl from a trucker’s perspective and all the logistics that go into it,” Schenk says.

“There’s a tremendous amount of logistical work that goes into constructing a 64,000-square-foot entertainment complex from the ground up including gear and rigging, construction materials, food and beverage deliveries, merchandise and outbound shipments after the game,” said Jack Murphy, president, Nomadic Entertainment Group and the visionary behind Club NOMADIC. “Delivery of each of these elements are time-sensitive and critical to success. We’re thrilled to partner with ONE20, not only through the valuable trucking service they provide, but in their desire to tell the stories of the professional truck drivers who work so hard to bring the ancillary elements to the host city to entertain the droves of fans that descend on the big game.”

The NFL is helping with onsite assistance, he adds. One aspect no one will be able to miss will be the large ice carving downtown. Schenk says ONE20 will have an artist carve a 47-foot long replica tractor-trailer that will include the names of all the truckers involved in the effort to put on the Super Bowl.

Schenk and ONE20 have challenged others in the industry to step up and offer drivers the chance to attend the big game.

“This is a challenge to the entire industry,” Schenk says. “If you’re a true champion and advocate for drivers, then thank them for their service with the ultimate prize. It’s a small price to pay for the work they’ve put in to ensure the big game is a success.”
