Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA), based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is building on their recent membership success with many new Asian and Oceania companies joining BiTA to promote the development and adoption of blockchain applications in the supply chain industry.

BiTA already has a strong presence in the region with some of the largest online retailers, transportation, technology and consulting firms already onboard – all committed to developing global standards in the global freight ecosystem to leverage this exciting new technology.

BiTA has seen amazing growth in global supply chain membership since its initiation and has its sights set on Asia and Oceania, as the region continues to play an increasingly pivotal role in the global supply chain. As of June 1, 2018, BiTA has over 400 members, including more than 25 members from Asia and Oceania, representing more than one trillion dollars in global freight revenues.

The organizations’s Asian office, centred in Singapore, will be run by Soeren Duvier and Jana Lee with the primary intent of growing membership in the Asian market and provide a community for members to meet regularly and collaborate on best practices and standards.

Jana has a background in Sales, Marketing and Event Planning at Resorts World Sentosa and Ascentia, with a degree in business management from the University of London in addition to speaking fluent English, Mandarin and Japanese. Soeren has an extensive career in container shipping with Maersk and with ICAP, Sumitomo and Nordea in the oil and energy trading industries. He is also fluent in Swedish, Norwegian, Japanese and German languages.

The Singapore Office opening follows the amazing success of the recent BiTA Asian Roadshow and BiTA Spring Symposium and Transparency18 events held in Atlanta on 21-23 May, which attracted nearly a thousand attendees and more than 900 live-streaming viewers over the 3-day event.

In addition to the upcoming MarketWaves18 event to be held in Grapevine, Texas (near the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport), on 12-14 November, BiTA will be planning similar events for the Asian region with dates to be announced shortly.

About BiTA

The goal of BiTA is for members to participate, discuss, create, and adopt industry standards that would act as the bedrock for developing blockchain applications. This will be accomplished through workgroups staffed by members who work in various disciplines such as smart contracts, freight payments, freight forwarding, insurance, banking, asset management, transparency and numerous other ideas continuously under development.
