Today’s Pickup: Kenworth fuel cell truck to enter testing

The expansion of fuel cell trucks is continuing, with an announcement from Ballard Power Systems that its 85-kilowatt fuel cell engine will power a Class 8 Kenworth drayage truck at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. It is part of a two-year demonstration program, reports the Santa Monica Observer.

The truck will join the likes of Nikola Motors and Toyota who are building manufacturing Class 8 fuel cell power systems. You can read more about these and other alternative power programs on FreightWaves’ Green Trucking page.
