Slync, an intelligent automation company that has doubled its team in just three months, announces the addition of two more renowned industry veterans to its leadership team: Samuel Israel, former regional CEO of DHL Global Forwarding and Nikos Papageorgiou, a digitization expert from Deloitte.

According to KPMG, companies will spend $232 billion on intelligent automation (IA) technology in 2025, compared to $12.4 billion this year. As the market for IA technology grows, Slync is expanding and investing in its people to solve customer problems and meet demand.

Global logistics leader Samuel Israel, the former regional CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, has moved from an advisory role into a full-time leadership position as president of Slync International. Nikos Papageorgiou, a supply chain digitization and transformation expert from Deloitte, has been named VP of customer success. The additions of Israel and Papageorgiou continue a period of rapid growth and talent acquisition for Slync.

“We’re committed to adding top talent and incredible people to the Slync team. Our people and creating a world class team are top priorities for us – and a critical factor in our customers’ continued success with Slync,” said Chris Kirchner, CEO and co-founder of Slync. “Both Samuel and Nikos have a storied history of leading successful supply chain digitization and transformation initiatives for Fortune 100 clientele. They will both add immense value for our customers.”

Israel, who was already serving as a member of Slync’s Advisory Board, is a seasoned and successful executive in the logistics industry. As a regional CEO, Israel led DHL Global Forwarding for more than 10 years, where he built a multibillion-dollar logistics organization in Latin America. He brings more than 35 years of global logistics, freight forwarding and international trade experience to his role as president of Slync International.

Papageorgiou is renowned for successfully deploying next generation technologies – including blockchain, cognitive analytics, IoT and artificial intelligence – across major enterprise networks. His experience includes 12 years of leading large-scale, mission-critical supply chain operations engagements across logistics and distribution, transportation, sourcing, quality and manufacturing. Most recently at Deloitte, Papageorgiou spearheaded numerous digital transformations of Fortune 100 global supply chains and was at the forefront of the firm’s blockchain practice.

“This is an exciting time for Slync,” Kirchner writes to FreighWaves via email. “We continue to add diverse and experienced industry leaders to our team. Nikos and Samuel are industry experts that will deliver key value to our customers. We are excited to have them both on board.”

“We identified Samuel early as a must-have resource for our customers,” continued Kirchner. “He started on our advisory board and his new role as president of Slync International allows him to take an even larger role in helping our customers capitalize on supply chain opportunities and solve their most pressing logistics problems. Samuel is a seasoned professional with vast knowledge of the freight and logistics space as well as operational experience on a global scale. We are lucky to have Samuel and personally he has become a trusted advisor as we build the future of supply chain software.”

“Nikos’ extensive background in deploying technologies like advanced analytics, blockchain, IoT, and artificial intelligence will also be a critical asset for Slync. He knows how to marry the digital and physical worlds to ensure long-term success for our customers on the Slync platform.”

Slync’s membership in the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA) will drive blockchain implementation in the freight industry, in partnership with leading logistics players, including UPS, Fedex, McLeod, Echo, and Penske. Slync’s live demo showcasing how Slync streamlines international transactions in the supply chain with blockchain was a winner at Transparency18.
