Fleet Complete announced this week that they will work with General Motors to accelerate the delivery of IoT-enabled services on OnStar-equipped 15 MY and newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles in the U.S. for small businesses and commercial fleets.

Fleet Complete is a leading global IoT provider of mission-critical fleet, asset and mobile workforce management solutions. The company is servicing over 400,000 subscribers and over 30,000 businesses in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

The company also maintains key distribution partnerships with AT&T in the U.S., TELUS in Canada, Telstra in Australia, and Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile) in multiple European countries. It remains one of the fastest-growing companies globally, having won numerous awards for innovation and growth.

“Interestingly, AT&T is also the network that General Motors’ OnStar works with,” Sandeep Kar, Fleet Complete’s Chief Strategy Officer, tells FreightWaves. “The benefit of having AT&T as a partner in this powerful alliance is that the end-user gets the most powerful communications network in the U.S. Approximately 40% of all businesses in the U.S. rely on AT&T for communications support.”

Through this collaboration Fleet Complete will  help fleets (that use Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac vehicles) of any size and vocation in reducing expenses and downtime, while improving driver behavior and operational efficiency. Additional customer-centric benefits include: Ability to leverage existing OnStar hardware integrated into GM Fleet vehicles and immediate onboarding with no long-term contract requirement.

“Our CONNVEX platform, which is  a massively scalable big data analytics platform, is designed to accelerate evolution and growth of connected vehicle eco-systems,” Kar says. “Leveraging its power we are now able to create unique solutions for fleets of various sizes, duty cycles, vocations, and vehicle types. Our General Motors partnership enables us in offering GM vehicle owners and fleets the power of OnStar and CONNVEX. This will result in businesses in gaining solutions that maximize fleet efficiency and effectiveness.”

“GM is one of the most advanced OEMs globally in telematics through its OnStar platform,” Kar says. “OnStar is already installed at factory level in GM fleet vehicles. CONNVEX is designed to derive data from OnStar in offering powerful and actionable insights to fleets that use General Motors’ various name-plated vehicles thereby enabling them in reducing TCO (total cost of ownership) and enhancing vehicle tracking, safety, utilization, and uptime.”

Easy activation of Fleet Complete software, without the worry of hardware compatibility or device installation is a key benefit enabled through this collaboration. “Connectivity is the future, and fleets of all sizes are rapidly embracing innovative, data-driven business solutions that can help them improve safety and reduce operating costs,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet. “The combination of OnStar connectivity and our built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot opens the door for people to put very sophisticated software and analytical tools to work quickly and efficiently.”

“Working with GM Fleet is a major milestone for us as an organization, and we are very excited at the opportunity to jointly serve fleets well into the future,” says Tony Lourakis, CEO of Fleet Complete. “Our collaboration attests to the fact that integrated connected vehicles, especially in business, are becoming the new norm. Our IoT solutions are designed to offer fleets of all sizes and vehicle types the advantage of big data analytics. Working together with GM will simplify consumer access to connected vehicle technologies and help more fleet-owning businesses thrive.”

“In the coming months there will be other global OEMs joining our CONNVEX platform,” Kar adds. “With GM, we are honored to collaborate with one of the biggest  OEMs in the world. Approximately 70% of our end users represent small-to-mid-size businesses, and through this alliance we’ll be reaching out to a huge part of these businesses that rely on GM vehicles for delivering services and solutions to their customers. We are working together to help fleets in not only saving money, but making money.”
