With convenience store chain Pilot Travel Centers now majority owned by Berkshire Hathaway, the Warren Buffet-led conglomerate made its first significant moves by ousting two leaders of existing management and putting Berkshire executives in their place.
Adam Wright will become CEO of the company effective May 30. On the same day, Joe Lillo will become CFO.
That announcement came Monday. In the other big shift going on among the largest truck stop chains, TravelCenters of America (NASDAQ: TA) said Tuesday that the 30-day period mandated by federal antitrust law had passed without action by the Federal Trade Commission and that TA’s acquisition by BP (NYSE: BP) was cleared to close.
At Pilot, current CEO Shameek Konar and current CFO Kevin Wills will leave the company “after supporting the transition.” Konar had been in the top role since November 2020.
In a series of short videos sent to the company’s employees, James A. “Jimmy” Haslam III, a former CEO and a member of the founding Haslam family, interviews Wright about his role at Pilot.

I would think the conglomerate of Berkshire Hathaway is sending a signal that fuel operated vehicles will be around for awhile and may possibly install infrastructure for EV’s even though Buffet recently commented on the subject and our preparedness to transition with respect to the raw materials needed for battery production and dependence on foreign nations for said materials. Infusing cash into the largest travel center in the United States that is primarily fuel based means pressure to continue in an “as is” direction should be expected. Bringing in one’s own team to oversee operations is not abnormal in these circumstances.

I worked for pilot flying j for a year. Poor management and they do not care about their employees just the profits. High turnover of employees. Hostile work environment. Make me CEO I would make alot of changes starting with remodeling the Post Falls Idaho Flying J first. Get more efficient equipment and cleaning chemicals flying j pays too high for these. Have more people on shift during peak hours not just one maintenance worker how can he do everything propane, showers, garbage, cleaning and maintenance? The roof leaked most the time. CEO needs to get his hands dirty traveling to all the flying j and checking out buildings and operations.

Big money in truck stops.
Obviously since there are not enough of them.
Let’s take advantage of truckers who have difficult jobs.
Had a partner who had trouble finding a truck stop that wasn’t full. Who had at least one nite a week he had to stop for the nite

Warren Buffet is an enemy of USA, a truly evil man. He bribed Biden to kill pipeline to ensure his trains would continue to carry oil.

Have either of these CEO types ever been in a truck? If I was shareholder, I’d vote for the $92 Arko offer

I never understood why Ta would be so filthy with potholes and sorry food play but still have mostly paid parking. What about upgrading the facilities bc I feel like some money has been missed out on that aspect. Pilots just needs to have more food options. Tired of this fast food mess. And all these truck stops have a horrible day layout team. All this land around here and they can’t get the flow of traffic together
