FreightWaves Research Institute announces the Freight.Tech 100

List includes startups and traditional freight companies that will now compete for inclusion in the Freight.Tech 25 of most innovative companies in freight

It started with an open nomination period, and after culling through hundreds of submissions, the FreightWaves Research Institute has announced the inaugural Freight.Tech 100 companies.

The Freight.Tech 100 honorees have now been forwarded to a panel of 56 external voters who will vote on the top 25 most innovative companies in the freight space to see who will land in the Freight.Tech 25. The winners will be announced at FreightWaves’ MarketWaves 18 conference on Nov. 12-13, 2018 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. To register, visit https://www.freightwaves.com/marketwaves18/.

The Freight.Tech 100 recognizes the most innovative and disruptive companies in freight. Nominations were sought, and a panel chosen by FreightWaves narrowed the list of more than 500 nominations to 100 companies. Those 100 companies will now be judged by the external panel and voting conducted by, and overseen by, accounting firm Katz, Sapper & Miller (KSM). The panel includes industry executives, academics and investors, all of whom will rank their top 25 companies in the Freight.Tech 100 on a 1-25 point basis (25 points for first place, 24 for second and so on). The top vote getters will comprise the Freight.Tech 25. The top five companies will receive special recognition.

FreightWaves and KSM were not eligible.

“We’re more than pleased with the caliber of companies nominated,” said Arlen Stark, FreightWaves EVP of Research. “We very much appreciate everyone that took the time to nominate their company or another company that they think is innovative. The 9 initial voters looked at several factors like the amount of capital raised, Crunchbase ranking, other rankings and recognition received, and whether they are currently having an impact.”

The companies and their technologies nominated for the Freight.Tech 100 included work around artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital brokerage, and more.

The FreightWaves Research Institute focuses on surveys, research, awards and credentialing.
