USDA names four Mexican states free of swine fever

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has added the Mexican states of Campeche, Quintana Roo, Sonora and Yucatan to its lists of regions considered free of classical swine fever.

The rule, effective April 12, allows the importation into the United States of live hogs and pork products from these four Mexican states. Importers must certify that these products originated in these states and that they have not been co-mingled with other pork prior to export to the United States.
