Will Postal Workers Ever Get Moisture Wicking Shirts?

USPS postal uniforms are in dire need of updating. The uniforms, especially letter carrier uniforms, still have all the look and feel of a 1950s government worker, complete with an inexplicable blue stripe down the pants legs. And the pale blue colors don’t help either. The heavy fabrics, especially in the summertime, do nothing to help carriers mitigate the heat. In recent years moisture wicking clothing has revolutionized the active sportswear and work wear market. Many sports, many athletes, many outdoor enthusiasts and many outdoor workers have switched to moisture wicking apparel, and for good reason. The apparel wicks away moisture from the body and allows it to quickly evaporate. Such a material would be perfect for carriers, especially during the hot summer months. In addition to the heat-mitigating properties, updated uniforms (along with a viable updated business plan for the USPS) would help present a new and professional image for the USPS. An updated style might even help recruit new employees to the Postal Service. And of course, the color needs to be updated to a more professional color such as navy blue.
