Old Dominion expands Chattanooga, Portland facilities

Old Dominion Freight Line has completed a 40% expansion of its Chattanooga facility and nearly doubled the size of its Portland, Ore. service center.    Old Dominion Freight Line has completed a 40-percent expansion of its Chattanooga facility, which will allow it to increase its less-than-truckload services in East Tennessee.
   “Much like the Chattanooga economy, Old Dominion has experienced significant growth since we opened our first service center here nearly 30 years ago,” said Dennis Potts, the service center manager, in a statement. “This renovation will allow us to build upon current business levels.”
   In addition, the company increased its footprint in Portland, Ore., by increasing the capacity via a new facility with 136 dock doors, up from 84 dock doors at the previous location. The facility handles a range of freight due its close proximity to Interstate 5, the Port of Portland and several major rail heads, the company said. Old Dominion opened its first service center in Portland in 2004.
