London Gateway attracts Brazilian meat company

DP World said JBS, the Brazilian company that is the world’s largest supplier of beef and chicken, will switch all its U.K. imports from South America to DP World London Gateway, taking advantage of a new deep-sea shipping service coming into the port starting next week.
The service is the River Plate Express service of Hamburg Sud and partners Alianca, ANL, CMA CGM, CSAV, Delmas, Hapag-Lloyd, Libra and MSC.
“We believe DP World London Gateway offers more efficiency and reliability for our supply chains and we want to take advantage of this,” said David Squires, JBS Global UK commercial director. “With better transport links and port infrastructure, we want to see improved lead times from arrival of the vessel to delivery to customer.”
Until now, JBS has used two ports of entry to the U.K., in the north and south, but now, it will concentrate all imports through DP World London Gateway.
DP World also announced that Pentalver, a leading inland container service operator, will open a new container facility at London Gateway. Pentalver will provide empty storage, dry repair and reefer services.
London Gateway opened in the fourth quarter last year and is also called by:
  • Maersk Line/MOL/DAL/Safmarine SAECS service to South Africa
  • Hamburg Sud/Hapag-Lloyd/Alianca/CMA CGM SW1/Eurosal.SAWC Sling 1 to the West Coast of South America
  • Hamburg Sud/Hapag-Lloyd/Alianca EPIC/ELIP/IOS service to the Indian Ocean Service-ELIP/IOS
