Executive Moves: Norfolk Southern, UTi and Cambridge Systematics

Norfolk Southern expands roles of two VPs, while UTi and Cambridge Systematics add to management teams.    Bruno Maestri and Robert E. Martίnez will take on additional responsibilities for Norfolk Southern Corp. with the retirement of F. Blair Wimbush, the railroad’s vice president of real estate and corporate sustainability officer. The changes are part of Norfolk Southern’s ongoing program to develop and support efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and expand market opportunities, the company said.
   Maestri, vice president government relations and corporate communications, has been named vice president government relations, corporate communications, and corporate sustainability officer, with his office in Washington. He joined the railroad in 1995.
   Martίnez, vice president business development, has been named vice president business development and real estate, with his office in Norfolk, Va. He rejoined NS in 1998 and served in several marketing positions before being named to his most recent position in 2003. Earlier, he had worked at NS for a year before serving a four-year stint as Virginia transportation secretary. 

   Raymond Lee joined UTi to lead the logistics services provider’s China area operations. He brings 25 years of experience to his new role. UTi also named David Buss head of the North America area, which covers Canada and United States. He is based in UTi’s Chicago office and brings more than 22 years of supply chain leadership experience to the company.

   Cambridge Systematics has hired Richard Denbow as a senior transportation planner affiliated with its Washington office and based in Raleigh, N.C. He has more than 18 years of experience in transportation planning and was most recently director of technical programs at the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations. Sarah Walker has been appointed as the firm’s transportation planning project manager located in the Tallahassee, Fla. office. She previously served as a senior transportation planner at HNTB Corp. Robert Hull has joined the firm and will be affiliated with the Oakland office, where he serves as a senior transportation safety manager based in Salt Lake City. He was the former director of the Utah Department of Transportation’s Traffic and Safety Division.
