White named Cargo Network Services president

Cargo Network Services has appointed Michael White to serve as president, succeeding Lionel van der Walt, who left the organization earlier this year to become executive vice president and CEO of RCI, Inc.    Cargo Network Services (CNS), the U.S. subsidiary of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has selected 40-year air cargo industry veteran, Michael White, to serve as president.
   In this role, White will be responsible for the Miami-based organization’s operations, including financial settlements, commercial operations and advocacy for its member airlines and freight forwarder customers.
   White joined CNS in 2008, and most recently served as vice president of government and industry relations. In that role, he supported U.S. industry efforts for the development of standards used in the Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) program, adoption of electronic consignment security declaration (eCSD) by the Transportation Security Administration, and other air cargo initiatives.
   He succeeds Lionel van der Walt as CNS president. Van der Walt left the organization earlier this year to become executive vice president and CEO of RCI, Inc.
   Prior to joining CNS, White held numerous management positions within the airline industry, including stints at Frontier Airlines, United Airlines, and the Air Transportation Association (now Airlines For America). He was also chief operating officer at Skylink USA where he managed commercial operations at the Baghdad International Airport for the U.S. Agency for International Development, UN peacekeeping operations in Darfur, and NATO in Afghanistan.
