Michigan trucker sentenced for tax fraud

The owner of trucking company RAMA Enterprise will spend 33 months in jail for wire fraud and failure to file a 2012 tax return.    The U.S. Justice Department said Arshawn Kenard Hall of Farmington, Mich., and owner of trucking company RAMA Enterprise was sentenced by a federal court in Detroit to 33 months in jail for wire fraud and failure to file a tax return.
   According to court records, an auto company hired Hall to transport plastic crates filled with parts. After transporting the parts, Hall was required to return the empty crates to a facility in Detroit.
   Instead, he took the plastic crates and sold them to a plastic recycling company for about $460,000. The value of the stolen plastic crates to the auto company was about $2.92 million.
   Hall also failed to file a 2012 federal income tax return on behalf of RAMA, which required him to pay the IRS $142,069 in taxes.
   In addition to the prison time, U.S. Court Judge Terrence G. Berg ordered Hall to serve three years of supervised release and to pay restitution of $2.91 million to the automobile company and $142,069 to the IRS.
