Port Everglades promotes Anderton to planning

   David Anderton has been promoted to the newly created position of assistant director of strategic planning and development at Port Everglades.
   “David’s diverse experience and background in planning, development, grants writing and administration and state/federal legislative processes make him the ideal choice for this new position as Port Everglades begins to implement its strategic expansion plans,” said the Florida port’s chief executive and port director, Steven Cernak, in a statement.
   In this position, Anderton will provide direction for the development and implementation of short- and long-range strategic plans including facilities planning, capital improvements programming and implementing Port Everglades’ five-year, $500 million Capital Improvements Program (CIP). He will also oversee capital grants and federal and state legislative efforts in coordination with Broward County’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Professional Standards.
   Anderton started working at Port Everglades in 2002 in the Seaport Engineering & Construction Division of the Broward County Public Works Department. He was the lead contract administrator overseeing the development of Port Everglades’ 20-Year Vision/Master Plan, which was updated and approved by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners in March 2011.
