FMC updates carrier agreement library

Federal Maritime Commission Acting Chairman Michael A. Khouri said the updated carrier agreement library will help people save time and money.    The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) said it has updated its carrier agreement library to make it more user friendly.

   The improved library will provide:
     • Near real-time notifications to the public on recently filed agreements and amendments;
     • A synopses of agreements and amendments, along with filing and effective date information;
     • And the full text of nearly all effective agreement and amendment filings, including those previously available only upon request.

  “By creating an easy to use gateway to a comprehensive collection of agreement filings, we are helping people save time, save money, and are providing more services to the public through a relatively small investment in our IT infrastructure,” said FMC Acting Chairman Michael A. Khouri.
   In addition, the FMC said “New terminal agreements that have been filed since electronic agreement filing functionality was introduced in 2016 are accessible through the new library portal. But since terminal agreements aren’t filed that frequently, that’s just a handful of agreements. The vast majority of terminal agreements are still housed in the MTO database and are only accessible through the old MTO agreements portal,” which is available here. The MTO agreements filed in the new system are mirrored in the old system to assist the public with their research, the agency explained. “As to when the MTO agreements will be in the new portal, at this time we cannot say with specificity when that will be completed.”
