Yang Ming, OOCL launch new intra-Southeast Asia loop

The SE8 service between Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam will complement Yang Ming’s existing TSE loop, the Taiwanese ocean carrier said in a statement.    Taiwanese ocean carrier Yang Ming and Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Lines (OOCL) will commence a new intra-Southeast Asia service in June.
   Each company will contribute an 1,800-TEU ship to the weekly SE8 loop, which will have a 14 day rotation and a port rotation of Port Kelang, Singapore, Pasir Gudang, Haiphong, Pasir Gudang, Singapore, and Port Kelang.
   Yang Ming said the service will complement its existing TSE loop, which connects Haiphong and other ports in Vietnam with Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia.
   Meanwhile, containership owner Seaspan Corp. said Friday it had accepted delivery of the 14,000-TEU YM Wind from the Taiwan shipyard CSBC Corp. The ship is being chartered by Yang Ming for 10 years, with an option for a two year extension.
