Diana Containerships reports $7.4m Q1 loss

The Athens-based containership charterer said it saw time charter revenues plunge “mainly due to reduced employment opportunities and time charter rates.”    Athens-based ship lessor Diana Containerships Inc. reported a net loss of $7.4 million for the first quarter of 2017, compared to a net loss of $5.8 million for the same 2016 period, according to the company’s most recent financial results.
   The firm said time charter revenues stood at $3.8 million for the first quarter of 2017, compared to $13.5 million for the same period of 2016, mainly due to reduced employment opportunities and time charter rates.
   Diana owns and operates 12 container vessels: six panamax ships with capacities ranging from 3,426 TEUs to 5,042 TEUs and six post-panamax ships with capacities ranging from 5,576 TEUs to 6,541 TEUs.
