Debris washing up in Bahamas linked to El Faro

Meanwhile, the Navy tug bringing equipment to locate the wreck of the cargo ship at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean will take longer than expected to arrive at El Faro’s last known position because of bad weather in the area.    A Jacksonville, Fla. television station is reporting it has linked material washing up on a beach in the Bahamas to the lost TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico cargo ship El Faro.
   First Coast News on WJXX said it has confirmed that pieces of a refrigerated container that washed up on a beach in the Bahamas had identification numbers matching it to the El Faro.
   Part of a refrigeration unit and toiletries were first reported washing up on Exuma and San Salvador islands in the Bahamas by the Nassau Guardian. It’s not known if all the items are actually from the El Faro, which disappeared in Hurricane Joaquin along with its 33 crew members after departing Jacksonville Oct. 1.
