A 26-year Union Pacific veteran, Tennison had been the senior vice president and chief information officer since February 2005. In his new role, Tennison will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing Union Pacific’s strategic agenda.
From 1998 to 2001, Tennison was president and chief executive officer of Nexterna, a Union Pacific technology subsidiary. Prior to joining Union Pacific in 1992, he worked at American Airlines’ SABRE division, AT&T and Southwestern Bell Telephone.
He will continue to serve as interim chief information officer until a successor is named.
Union Pacific also announced appointments within its information technology organization, naming Rick Holmes as assistant vice president of information assurance, Alan Fisher as assistant vice president of commercial technology and Brett Frankenberger as assistant vice president of systems engineering. Those appointments also take effect Wednesday.
Holmes, who joined Union Pacific in 1982, will serve as the company’s chief information security officer. Fisher, who joined the company in 2000, will be responsible for commercial technology solutions and subsidiaries. Frankenburger, who was hired in 1990, will be responsible for day-to-day technology infrastructure architecture.
Matson Logistics has appointed Michael Coleman as its director of intermodal operations.
Coleman began his career at APL Stacktrain Services in 1985 and most recently led its intermodal operations and rail conveyance divisions. He also served as vice president of field operations for RoadOne.
Coleman, who is based in the Chicago region, will oversee Matson’s intermodal services, carrier performance and customer support throughout North America.
Tracy Egoscue was elected president of the Board of Harbor Commissioners, which oversees the Port of Long Beach. Also elected were Bonnie Lowenthal as vice president and Frank Colonna as secretary. The five-member board selects a president and other officers for one-year terms each July.
Egoscue, an attorney, is the owner and founder of the Long Beach-based environmental law firm Egoscue Law Group Inc. and a former deputy attorney general for the state of California. She was appointed to a six-year term on the Board of Harbor Commissioners in 2014.
