Fort Pierce port looks to develop 20 acres

Florida’s St. Lucie County is looking for a private partner to help it develop 20 acres of waterfront land inside the Port of Fort Pierce for commercial use.    Florida’s St. Lucie County is looking for a private partner to help it develop 20 acres at the Port of Fort Pierce for commercial use. 
   The Board of County Commissioners recently issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to develop the county-owned property inside the 90-acre port complex. The land is less than three miles from the mouth of the Fort Pierce Inlet, which connects to the Atlantic’s deep-water.
   The available 20-acre site is considered ideal for a company that maintains and repairs megayachts, which are increasingly calling the port each year.
   “The fact that the parcel has never been developed also lends the advantage that the new facility can be purpose-built specifically for this activity, creating cost-savings and efficiencies,” the county said. 
   The Port of Fort Pierce is located on Florida’s east coast between Orlando and Miami, and has direct landside access to Interstate 95, the Florida Turnpike and State Road 70.
