American Fast Freight acquires Global Transportation Services

Non-vessel-operating common carrier American Fast Freight has acquired Global Transportation Services, an international freight forwarder, customs broker and logistics services provider.    American Fast Freight (AFF), a Fife, Wash.-based non-vessel-operating common carrier specializing in the Jones Act trades, has acquired Global Transportation Services.
   Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. AFF is currently owned by The Resolute Fund II, a private equity firm managed by The Jordan Co., and AFF’s management.
   Global Transportation Services (GTS) is an international freight forwarder, customs broker, and logistics services provider based in Kent, Wash.
   AFF said GTS will operate as a new subsidiary, and Jason Totah, president and chief executive officer of GTS, will remain president of the company and serve on the AFF board. AFF said Totah is also “re-investing a significant portion of his sale proceeds into an equity investment in AFF.”
   “In 2015, we expanded our reach into the Caribbean market with the addition of Caribbean Shipping Services. Now, with the addition of GTS, AFF’s reach is global, providing customers with expanded services beyond our primary Jones Act markets of Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and Puerto Rico,” said Kevin Kelly, AFF’s president and CEO, in a statement.
