The business will continue under the name NPC and operate as an independent division in Rickmers-Linie, effective July 1.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
NPC operates a fleet of multipurpose, heavy-lift vessels ranging in size from 8,000 to 21,000 deadweight tons, with a lift capacity of up to 500 tons. Rickmers said the majority of Nordana’s heavy-lift vessels are in the 12,000-deadweight-ton range and operate under the Thai flag.
The takeover of NPC by Rickmers-Linie comes a year after Nordana Project & Chartering nominated Rickmers (Japan) as its sole general agent in Japan. In March, Nordana nominated Rickmers-Linie as its representative in China.
“Working together with NPC in our ventures in Japan and China has shown that we fit together really well, both product, and service-wise, as well as with the team spirit and working climates within our companies,” Rickmers-Linie CEO Ulrich Ulrichs said. “We reviewed and soon agreed that we should expand our cooperation, which eventually led to Rickmers-Linie taking over the NPC business.”
Rickmers Group currently manages a fleet of more than 130 vessels.
