Maersk announces rate hikes

Maersk announces rate hikes    Maersk Line announced rate hikes on several trades saying “trading conditions for the carriers operating in these markets are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable in the longer term.”
   The hikes are:
   ' $300 per TEU between Asia and Mexico and the West Coast of Central America, effective Aug. 15.
   ' $200 per TEU between Asia and Panama, effective Aug. 15.
   ' $350 per TEU between Asia and the West Coast of South America, effective Sept. 1.
   ' $250 per TEU between India and Sri Lanka and West Africa, effective Sept. 1.
   ' $250 per TEU between the Far East and West Africa, effective Aug. 15. Maersk is a member of the Asia-West Africa Trade Agreement.
   ' $250 per TEU between the Middle East and West Africa, effective Sept. 1.
