DHS requests $47.5b for FY 2019

The Department of Homeland Security is proposing $1.6 billion to drive construction of 65 miles of new southern border walling, and $1.9 billion for Coast Guard recapitalization to “secure maritime borders and approaches.”    The Trump administration on Monday requested $47.5 billion in discretionary funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for fiscal 2019, a $3.5 billion increase over what it had requested for FY 2018, according to DHS.
   “The President’s budget invests in securing our physical and maritime borders, enforcing our immigration laws, and advancing cybersecurity and aviation security to safeguard Americans from those who seek to do us harm,” DHS said.
