Gebrüder Weiss raises flag in U.S. market

Austrian third-party logistics services provider Gebrüder Weiss has placed three U.S. offices under a single brand in Atlanta, Boston and Los Angeles, effective July 3, and is opening offices in New York and Chicago.    Austrian third-party logistics services provider Gebrüder Weiss is expanding to the United States.
The company has placed three U.S. offices under a single brand in Atlanta, Boston and Los Angeles, effective July 3, and is opening offices in New York and Chicago.
The Chicago office will serve as the head office for Gebrüder Weiss USA. About 100 staff are now employed by the company in the United States.
In addition to traditional air and sea transport services, Gebrüder Weiss will now offer specific logistics services at its new U.S. locations. These services range from goods storage and local distribution to e-commerce solutions including online store systems.
In the past few years, the company has developed uniform logistics services globally with numerous customers. Gebrüder Weiss now wants to strengthen these developments by catering more to specific geographic needs of these shippers. “This is why a strong and independent presence in the USA is strategically extremely important to us,” Heinz Senger-Weiss, Gebrüder Weiss management board member, said in a statement.
The company has also made changes to its operations in China and Europe. On July 1, it opened new offices in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, which are supported by its representative office in Zhanjiang. Another office will open in Guangzho this summer. A new office at Düsseldorf Airport will supplement the air and sea freight locations in Hamburg and Frankfurt, and the company will open two more offices in Munich and Stuttgart this year.
“These expansion measures will enable Gebrüder Weiss to cover the most important transshipment hubs around the globe,” the company said.
