CaroTrans starts new China/Chile LCL services

   Non-vessel-operating common carrier CaroTrans has started four new less-than-containerload services from China to Chile.
   The Chinese departure cities include Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong, with arrivals in Valparaiso, Chile.
   “Our Chile gateway is positioned to effectively serve regional and global growth. These four new import services are the first stage in our development of direct China services to South America,” said Raul Katz, CaroTrans’ Latin America manager, in a statement.
   CaroTrans established an owned and operated office in Santiago, Chile in 2011. In China, CaroTrans delivers service and support from offices in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Xiamen.
   In addition to the four new China import services, CaroTrans delivers a range of LCL and FCL (full container load) import and export services to and from Chile and CaroTrans’ U.S. service network. Over the past year, CaroTrans’ Chile-U.S. import and export transactions grew 10 percent, the NVO said. CaroTrans’ West Coast South America service portfolio links Chile with Callao, Guayaquil, and Buenaventura.
   “Increasingly, global freight forwarders are moving smaller shipments that require reliable, secure consolidation and deconsolidation services. CaroTrans is positioned in South America to serve their needs and provide the highest level of service and support,” said, Greg Howard, global chief executive officer for CaroTrans.
