DOT secretary to lead Africa trade mission

The trip will introduce U.S. shippers to potential customers in Mozambique, South Africa and Kenya.    U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will lead a delegation of 14 companies on a trade mission to sub-Saharan Africa June 18-26.
   The trip will introduce U.S. firms in transportation, energy equipment and services, and agricultural equipment to potential customers in Mozambique, South Africa and Kenya. This is Foxx’s first trade mission as transportation secretary.
   According to the U.S. government, sub-Saharan Africa is the world’s second fastest-growing region and home to six of the 10 fastest-growing economies – Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia. U.S. goods exports to sub-Saharan Africa increased by 6 percent in 2014, reaching a record $25.4 billion. In August 2014, President Obama announced $7 billion in new financing to promote U.S. exports to and investments in Africa as part of his Doing Business in Africa campaign.
   The companies participating in the trip are Cashman Equipment Corp., Eberhart Capital, Fluor Corp., First Solar Development, General Electric, Hightowers Petroleum Co., Honeywell International, Kanawha Scales and Systems, Progress Rail Services Corp., RDO Equipment Co., Scimitar Global Markets, Teras Cargo Transport (America), United Laboratories, and Yegg.
