Yilport seeks port concession in Taranto

The fast-growing Turkish port operator seeks to handle multipurpose terminals in southern Italy port.    Yilport Holding has submitted an offer for the Taranto Container Terminal concession in southern Italy.
Ionian Sea Port Authority (AdSP), the managing institution of Port of Taranto, received the request of Yilport to operate a set of terminals that handle containers, bulk and roll-on, roll-off cargo.
Yilport said the port is “well-located as a relay hub for the Mediterranean Sea,” and that the terminals are integrated with intermodal networks that connect to northern Italy and central Europe.
Yilport said it will develop and revamp the terminals to attract and grow container volume, improve the logistics network and serve general cargo and ro-ro traffic.
It said it “aims to utilize the maximum capacity of Port of Taranto and is targeting to increase the annual cargo volumes rapidly.”
Yilport said it is currently the 13th-largest container terminal operator and is “growing towards its target to be ranked among the top 10 container terminal operators by 2025.” Headquartered in Istanbul, it is active in eight countries with 20 marine ports and six dry terminals and owns a 24 percent stake in CMA CGM.
In April it signed a letter of intent with the Mississippi State Port Authority to have an proposed private-public partnership evaluated.
