NFTC names new president

The Washington-based National Foreign Trade Council has appointed Rufus Yerxa as its new president, effective May 9.    The National Foreign Trade Council has appointed Rufus Yerxa as its new president, effective May 9. 
   Current NFTC President Bill Reinsch, who has led the organization for the past 15 years, will serve until then.
   “With more than three decades of experience – from Capitol Hill to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to the WTO – Amb. Yerxa is uniquely qualified and is an excellent choice to lead the NFTC into its second century,” Reinsch said in a statement, adding that Yerxa will be “a strong advocate for an open, rules-based global trading system.”
   Yerxa served as a deputy U.S. trade representative in both Republican and Democratic administrations, and served for many years as the World Trade Organization’s deputy director general. He is currently an independent consultant and visiting professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, Calif.
