Executive Moves: Landstar and VARGO

Robert Brasher is succeeding Patrick O’Malley as vice president and CCO, and material handling industry veteran James Heuker is hired.

Landstar System Inc., a Jacksonville, Fla.-based asset-light provider of integrated transportation management systems, announced Thursday that Robert S. Brasher (pictured above left) has been appointed to succeed Patrick J. O’Malley as vice president and chief commercial officer, effective Monday.
O’Malley (above right) is stepping down from his current position Friday and will serve as a special adviser to the CEO through his anticipated retirement in February.
“In his 34 years with Landstar, Pat has led the operations, safety and sales sides of the organization. His leadership has truly helped shape Landstar into the transportation industry leader we are today,” said President and CEO Jim Gattoni. “Pat’s knowledge, insight and guidance has been invaluable to the entire Landstar network, including the owner-operator and independent sales agent entrepreneurs we support.”
Brasher has been with Landstar for 19 years, most recently as executive vice president of the Western Field Division.
“Rob’s expertise in sales, agency development and customer growth has positioned him to make a seamless transition into the role of vice president and chief commercial officer.”

Hilliard, Ohio-based VARGO, a provider of material-handling systems integration, warehouse execution software and equipment solutions for fulfillment and distribution centers, has hired James A. Heuker as the engineering operations manager.
Heuker, who will be based out of VARGO’s Michigan office, will be responsible for systems implementation.
He has 30 years of engineering experience in the material handling industry. Prior to joining VARGO, Heuker was a senior installation operations manager at Honeywell Intelligrated. Prior to that, he was a senior project manager at Intelligrated Systems LLC and a mechanical engineering supervisory at Siemens Dematic Corp. Heuker also spent 13 years at DPI Material Handling Systems.
