Dissecting the problems of hiring and retention
How do you find good people to fill out a business’ staff? That is a question every hiring manager and recruiter is trying to answer.
DriverReach founder and CEO Jeremy Reymer hopes to provide some insight into the driver life cycle in his podcast, Taking The Hire Road.
For the first episode, Reymer chats with Max Farrell, CEO of Workhound, about how to determine the best place to recruit good employees. Like everything in the logistics industry, Farrell says it comes back to data.
Things potential employees will research about a company include retention rates, survey responses, exit interviews and even wage data. Farrell says these are great data points but sometimes the points are available too late — after the driver is already out the door.
When it comes to retention, Reymer agrees that it is important to solicit information from a company’s current employees but also act on that information.
Farrell recommends creating a habit loop of “listen, act, respond” that can help companies make small, incremental changes that will add quality to the workplace.
