Masked thieves cut trailer hinges, steal Black Angus beef in Philadelphia

Four masked men cut into a tractor-trailer early Tuesday before stealing Black Angus beef ribs in Philadelphia. The group approached a 2026 Freightliner around 1 a.m., according to city police. They cut hinges from the rear door, gaining access to the cargo inside. Approximately half a pallet disappeared during the theft.

The offenders loaded the meat into a dark-colored Ford F-150. An unidentified Jeep accompanied that pickup as both vehicles left the area. Their route took them southbound from the 3300 block of South Third Street. Police described each suspect as male and wearing a mask.

Investigation remains active

The Philadelphia break-in follows other cargo crimes involving increasingly brazen tactics. A local theft ring targeted parked trailers and injured a driver during one robbery. Those cases involved different methods, but each required criminals to overcome physical safeguards protecting freight.

Authorities have not announced any arrests or reported recovering the missing ribs. Officials also have not disclosed the stolen beef’s value or identified the motor carrier. The Philadelphia Police Department told FreightWaves, “The investigation remains active and ongoing.” No further information about the case has emerged.
