CMA CGM to install SAP system tailored for container shipping

CMA CGM said it is investing in a new information system and has “entered into a strategic partnership” with SAP “to develop the first system totally dedicated to container shipping” to be implemented by the end of 2015.
“CMA CGM and SAP plan to give the new application innovative, original and global functions that will allow the CMA CGM Group to anticipate and exceed the needs of its one million customers while improving operational performance. As the first system to be tailored specifically to maritime transport, it will give CMA CGM unmatched efficiency and flexibility in an industry that is constantly evolving,” the company said.
The company added that the new IT system will handle independent and automated processes for the 10.6 million containers and the 3.36 million bookings CMA CGM handles annually.
“We are delighted to partner with CMA CGM which is now one of our major customers. This further strengthens our presence in this industry, enabling SAP to offer a complete and fully optimized solution for processes at the heart of the container shipping industry,” said Franck Cohen, President of SAP Europe, Middle East and Africa.
