Coal shipments sink on Great Lakes for August

Coal shipped on the Great Lakes reached 2.6 million tons in August, an 18 percent drop compared to a year ago, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association.

Coal shipped on the Great Lakes reached 2.6 million tons for the month, an 18 percent drop compared to a year ago, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association. Loadings also trailed the month’s long-term average by nearly 19 percent.
