Commerce leads trade mission to Egypt, Jordan and Israel

The mission will introduce U.S. healthcare-related firms to the region and promote exports of U.S. healthcare products.    The U.S. Commerce Department’s Deputy Undersecretary for International Trade Ken Hyatt will lead a delegation of six U.S. companies on a healthcare equipment, services, and technologies trade mission to Egypt, Jordan, and Israel May 16–21.
   The purpose of the mission is to introduce U.S. healthcare-related firms to the region and promote exports of U.S. healthcare products and services during stops in Cairo, Amman, and Tel Aviv.
   “The healthcare sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in the region,” Hyatt said in a statement. “In Egypt and Jordan, population growth and increased life expectancy are driving the demand for better quality healthcare services. In Israel, there are tremendous opportunities for U.S. companies in both the public and private sectors for the healthcare industry.”
   Specifically, in 2013, Egypt spent $9.5 billion on healthcare, with Jordan spending $1 billion, and Israel $20 billion. 
   The U.S. companies joining the trip include AMTAI Medical Equipment, E*HealthLine.com, Flow Sciences, Medidata Solutions, OxyHeal Health Group, and Precision Image Analysis.
