Coolboxx becomes reefer box rental

   Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics, Visbeen Transport Group and Post-Kogeko Logistics said this week that refrigerated container provider Coolboxx has become a rental company.
   Coolboxx will exclusively rent 45-foot reefers to the three partners. The transaction was approved by the partners’ boards.
   With this change in identity, the partners aim to accelerate reefer volumes in their own specialized markets.
   Samskip will continue to be the biggest Coolboxx user. All Coolboxx staff recently moved to Samskip’s head office.
   Also this week, Samskip started a weekly short-sea service, in cooperation with SCA Transforest, from Rotterdam via Stockholm to St. Petersburg. The service uses two 1,000-TEU containerships.
   Samskip and SCA Transforest started testing the service to St. Petersburg a few months ago.
   With sailings from Rotterdam Interforest Terminal, the new line connects Stockholm, St. Petersburg’s First Container Terminal, Sundsvall and Umea offering customers a weekly departure with a transit time of three days to Stockholm and five days to St. Petersburg.
