Costamare reports higher revenues as fleet grows

   Costamare, an Athens-based company that owns and charters containerships to liner companies, said it had net income in the second quarter ending June 30 of $27.4 million, compared to $30.6 million during the same period in 2013. Voyage revenue in the quarter was $123.5 million, compared with $100 million in the second quarter of 2013. Adjusted EBITDA was $91.4 million in the second quarter of 2014, compared with $67.6 million in the same 2013 period.
   The company had an average of 55.7 ships in its fleet in the second quarter of 2014, compared with 49 in the second quarter of 2013.
   Gregory Zikos, the company’s chief financial officer, said the company believes it is “well positioned to continue to grow selectively and on healthy grounds.”
