Costamare reports increase in second-quarter profit

   Costamare, the Athens-based ship containership charterer, said Wednesday that it had net income of $30.6 million in the second quarter of compared to $21.1 million in the same 2012 period.
   Voyage revenue was $100 million in the second quarter, up from $96 million in the second quarter of 2012.
The company also reported the delivery of two new containerships, Valor and Value, which were both built by Sungdong Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering in South Korea and which have commenced long term charters with members of the Evergreen Group. The company has also acquired three secondhand vessels, which were subsequently chartered to Hapag-Lloyd, Sea Consortium, and CMA CGM.
