Crowley to add Puerto Rico sailings

Crowley Maritime will offer an additional monthly sailing between Pennsauken, N.J., and San Juan, Puerto Rico this summer.

Crowley Maritime will add sailings between Pennsauken, N.J., and San Juan, Puerto Rico this summer in response to customers’ needs for additional shipping service in the Northeast.
“With our accelerated sailing schedule, we have determined that we can add a sailing each month between Pennsauken and San Juan,” said John Hourihan, Crowley senior vice president and general manager, Puerto Rico services. “We’ve been working diligently since last December to add capacity and tweak our vessel rotations and operations to accommodate as much cargo as possible. This enhancement will surely benefit our customers in the Northeast who have been adjusting to capacity issues caused by the departure of Horizon Lines from the market.”
Crowley and Sea Star Line have both added capacity in their services between Jacksonville and San Juan this year after Horizon Line ended its service to Puerto Rico at the end of 2014. Horizon has since been broken up with Pasha acquiring its Hawaii assets and Matson the remainder of the company, including its service to Alaska. Sea Star plans to put brand new ships into service between Jacksonville and San Juan later this year, and Crowley is building new ships as well.
