CSL adds vessels to fleet

   Canada Steamship Lines (CSL) said the first of four new Trillium-class self-unloading vessels is on its way from a Chinese shipyard to the Great Lakes.
   The Baie St. Paul is expected to arrive in Montreal in 50 to 60 days, CSL said.
   The new ship is part of CSL’s fleet renewal program. In addition to the four Trillium-class vessels, the company will add two new bulk carriers to its Great Lakes fleet in 2012-2013.
   “The Baie St. Paul and her sister vessels represent the beginning of a new era for CSL and for bulk shipping in the Great Lakes,” said Louis Martel, CSL’s president, in a statement. “Employing leading edge technological innovation, the Trillium-class ships will set new standards in operational and energy efficiency, reliability, and environmental protection.”
   Also departing from the Chenxgi shipyard Friday was CSL’s new Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin, a new self-unloading Panamax vessel. The Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin will join CSL’s international fleet along with two sister Trillium-class Panamax ships to be delivered in 2013.
