    Are they really “accidents” – that term suggests that avoidance was up to chance rather than the choices that we make when behind the wheel.

    How about cars cutting us off and then hitting their brakes, or my favorite someone going the speed limit in front of you only to suddenly slow down to 40 mph because they are on their cellphones. Vehicles coming off entrance ramps thinking they have right away causing a chain reaction of break checks.
