Damco appointments target mining, tech

Damco, the freight forwarding arm of A.P. Moller-Maersk, has appointed Ivan Thuynsma to global head of its mining vertical.
He will be responsible for the development of Damco’s customers in the mining industry.
Damco has over the last few years seen an increased interest in its products and services around the mining vertical, particularly in growth markets like Africa.
Before joining Damco, Thuynsma worked 10 years at UTi, leading the forwarder’s Africa and Middle East mining and project vertical for the last 18 months.
Damco also named Leo Bischoff as the new global head of its technology industry segment.
Bischoff, a 30-year supply chain management veteran, has worked for companies, such as Hewlett-Packard, Compaq and Coca-Cola. Bischoff left HP in May as vice president of worldwide logistics. He will be based in Sao Paulo.
