DP World acquires remaining 49% stake in Southampton terminal

The container terminal operator touted synergies with its London Gateway facility as it extended its license for the DP World Southampton terminal to 2047.

   DP World has acquired the remaining 49 percent stake in the DP World Southampton terminal from Associated British Ports, making DP World the sole owner of the business, according to a statement from the company.
   The company also announced that it has agreed to extend the license for the DP World Southampton for 25 years until 2047.
   “Through full ownership of DP World Southampton, we will now be able to combine with DP World London Gateway, the newest deep-sea container terminal and logistics park at the heart of the UK’s biggest consumer markets, to offer our customers the best possible service and long term growth in the UK. A unique and very exciting proposition,” said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chairman of DP World.
