Eimskip acquires Dutch reefer forwarder

Icelandic shipping line Eimskip says Jac. Meisner had annual sales of $8.8 million.    The Icelandic shipping company Eimskip has acquired the Dutch forwarder Jac. Meisner, a specialist in reefer cargo.
Based in Rotterdam, Jac. Meisner was founded in 1959. It’s main expertise is custom brokerage, veterinary and agricultural inspection, and receiving and checking of frozen and chilled cargo with origins all over the world for import into European countries, said Eimskip.
According to the Jac. Meisner’s website, the commodities it handles include beef, game, frog legs and seafood.
The company’s annual revenue amounts to approximately 7.5 million euro ($8.8 million). Because of expected synergy with Eimskip, the Icelandic company estimated the EBITDA margin of the company will be 8-9 percent.
Jac. Meisner currently employs 12 people. Dick Weijgertze, its managing director, will stay on board with the company in the same role.
Gylfi Sigfússon, President and CEO of Eimskip said  “The acquisition will strengthen the services to Eimskip’s customers and the customers of Jac. Meisner will also benefit from Eimskip’s global network. The transaction is a part of Eimskip’s strategy of external growth and will further strengthen the company’s worldwide reefer logistics services.”
