Peterbilt Motor Company (has added two additional ratings to its MX-13 engine family for the 2019 model year, both aimed at increasing uptime and improving fuel economy for truck owners.
The PACCAR MX-13 will now be offered with a multi-torque 455 hp. option with torque ratings between 1,650 and 1,850 lbs.-ft., and a 405 hp. with 1,650 lbs.-ft. of torque.
“Peterbilt and PACCAR Powertrain work closely to ensure Peterbilt customers have the most fuel-efficient options available, and they already benefit from a total weight savings of more than 500 lbs. when spec’ing the full PACCAR Powertrain on the Model 579,” said Peterbilt’s on-highway marketing manager Wesley Slavin. “Peterbilt’s customers have challenged us to find even more ways to maximize fuel economy and these new ratings deliver.”
Peterbilt advises long-haul customers looking for the most fuel-efficient package to consider the PACCAR transmission, PACCAR 40k rear axle along with the new 405 hp. MX-13 with a 1,650 lbs.-ft. torque rating.
The new engine ratings will be available January 2019.
