Executive Moves: d’Amico, Pilot, ESPO

Chairman of the board taking company reins; technology getting greater focus; and organization reconfirming leadership.
   The board of directors of d’Amico International Shipping S.A. on Thursday announced it had granted Chairman of the Board Paolo d’Amico “all the powers of the resigning chief executive officer,” effective Jan. 1.
    CEO Marco Fiori announced in October that he would resign at the end of the year.
   “My personal involvement and dedication is to confirm, in an important moment for DIS, the d’Amico Group’s commitment to the success of the company, and my appointment as CEO will assure continuing on governance and all business operations,” d’Amico said. “The company has a clear vision for the business and a strong and experienced management team that will allow it to achieve it.” 

   Lima, Pa.-based Pilot Freight Services announced Mark Baker has joined the company in a newly created role as chief technology officer. 
   Baker brings more than 23 years of senior IT management experience to Pilot, operating exclusively in the transportation and logistics industry since 2003, most recently as global chief information officer for JAS Worldwide.
   He will be tasked with applying best practices to Pilot’s existing IT infrastructure to optimize results and provide greater transparency to improve performance and reduce costs. 

   The General Assembly of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) in Brussels on Wednesday unanimously re-elected Eamonn O’Reilly as chairman.
    O’Reilly, who has served as chair the last two years, has been the chief executive of the Dublin Port Company since 2010. 
   The General Assembly also re-elected Annaleena Mäkilä and elected Zeno d’Agostino as vice chairs. Mäkilä is the managing director of the Finnish Ports Association, and d’Agostino is president of Assoporti, the Italian association of ports, and of the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea.
