Executive Moves: Hapag-Lloyd, Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners and AMI

Hapag-Lloyd names new chief commercial officer, while the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners elects new officers and AMI appoints Africa region VP.

Hapag-Lloyd AG has appointed Thorsten Haeser as chief commercial officer, effective Oct. 1. He is currently managing director of Versatel GmbH, a company owned by United Internet. Prior to that, he held various management positions at Sixt AG, Telefonica O2 and VIAG Interkom.

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners elected Lori Ann Farrell Harrison as its new president. The five-member commission, which oversees the Port of Long Beach, also selected Lou Anne Bynum as vice president and Tracy Egoscue as secretary. The commission selects from its own board officers for one-year terms each July.

Air freight wholesaler AMI has promoted Milton French to vice president of Africa. He succeeds Mike Todd, who is retiring. French has more than 30 years of industry experience and worked at forwarders including Mitchell Cotts, Micor Meadows Airfreight and, most recently, Rohde and Liesenfeld where he was a director.
